    Traditional guilloché is performed on a flat, two-dimensional plane, where the cutting trajectory and applied force remain relatively predictable. A curved dial changes everything. Peacock’s artisans therefore developed and specially modified dedicated equipment to follow the microscopic trajectory of the curved surface.   • 400+ Cuts, Controlled by Hand

    Across the dial, 40 V-grooves expand and contract from the outside inward, creating the flowing geometry of Tai Chi. Each groove is refined through 10 individual cutting passes, resulting in more than 400 precision operations across the curved surface. With every pass, the artisan must continuously adjust the cutting angle and pressure to accommodate subtle changes in curvature. A momentary tremor or incorrect turn can magnify across the three-dimensional surface, permanently damaging the base component. Once metal has been removed, there is no correction. Every cut therefore carries consequence, demanding patience, muscle memory, and absolute control.
