In the boundless universe, the black hole stands as the most enigmatic existence—where time is redefined and space infinitely distorted.
With the craftsmanship of master watchmakers, Peacock pays tribute to Einstein’s theory of general relativity, interpreting the deepest mysteries of the cosmos.
When the Avant Series · Black Hole Watch first debuted, it won the 2024 German iF Design Award and was recognized as a Featured Finalist at the 2024 U.S. IDEA Design Awards for its extraordinary design.
Now, Peacock reimagines this classic with a new design language, allowing the singularity of time and space to cycle once more upon the wrist.
Design Inspired by the “Event Horizon”
The concept draws inspiration from the black hole’s event horizon—that mysterious boundary from which even light cannot escape. When matter is drawn toward a black hole, immense gravitational forces form a blazing accretion disk, radiating dazzling energy.
- Blue-Violet Spectrum: Achieved through hand-burnt titanium craftsmanship at 550°–600°C, symbolizing the radiant energy released by the accretion disk.
- Vortex Guilloché: Hand-engraved vortex textures on the movement’s base plate replicate the black hole’s swirling visual effect.
- Full-Silver Tourbillon: Like a celestial body rotating within the event horizon’s gravitational field—pure, eternal, and mesmerizing.
Peacock fuses central tourbillon technology, hand-burnt titanium, and hand guilloché engraving to reflect on gravity and curvature, recreating the aesthetics of the Space Age on the wrist.
Hand-Burnt Titanium Hands and Inner Ring
A Legacy of Design DNA
Continuing the legacy of the previous generation, the watch hands derive from the geometric beauty of the black hole’s external gravitational field. Symmetrically distributed, they extend infinitely in both directions, their tips filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9, glowing with 95% ultra-high brightness to mark the passage of time in the infinite void.
Craft Innovation: “Cosmic Light Born in Flame”
Both the hands and the inner ring are forged with hand-burnt titanium craftsmanship. This large-area titanium treatment presents immense challenges: Peacock’s artisans precisely control temperatures at 550°–600°C to capture the fleeting blue-violet hues.
The resulting iridescence, like the spontaneous energy eruption of a black hole, is naturally random. Each piece is unique, and only those meeting Peacock’s strict aesthetic standards are selected for final presentation.
Finishing Beyond Perfection
Every hand undergoes four-stage progressive sanding (1000/3000/5000/7000 grit) to achieve a mirror-smooth surface. After meticulous polishing, the flawless base is then burnt to reveal the mysterious blue-violet brilliance.
Elevating Movement Aesthetics
At its heart beats Peacock’s self-developed central tourbillon movement, with 196 components integrated into a 35.6 mm diameter. The lightweight tourbillon cage weighs just 0.46 grams, while four series-coupled barrels provide an impressive 120-hour power reserve with transmission efficiency above 95%.
PAX9611 – “The Vortex of Time and Space”
- The central tourbillon evolves from gold to a full-silver frame, exuding modern sophistication.
- Its vortex-shaped tourbillon bridge embodies the visual distortion of space-time.
- Skeletonized upper bridges overlap with the dial, enhancing depth and perspective.
- The base plate is hand-guillochéd with vortex engravings, further strengthening the black hole theme.
Hand-Guilloché Black Hole Vortex
The movement’s base plate is meticulously engraved with 8-division rope guilloché patterns, each requiring over 400 cuts, with a 3° rotational angle and a precision spacing of just 0.3125 mm. The slightest error means discarding the entire piece.
Breaking the traditional rose-engine limits, master engraver Wei Sheng designed new tooling over several months to achieve the rare 8-division guilloché, capturing the hypnotic swirl of a black hole’s vortex.
Seven rubies, like stars held captive by black hole gravity, are set along the “accretion disk” and “event horizon,” merging metal textures with gem brilliance to narrate a cosmic story.
Aerospace-Grade Titanium Aesthetics
The case, buckle, bezel, and hands are forged from Grade 5 titanium, a material with aerospace-level hardness, tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance. It is 43% lighter than steel, biocompatible, and skin-friendly.
The domed sapphire crystal merges seamlessly with the titanium case, while golden-ratio side cuts create the illusion of weightlessness.
- Obsidian Black Edition: Electroplated for a deep, cosmic finish.
- Titanium White Edition: Retains the raw texture of titanium alloy.
Both express the strength and lightness of spacecraft engineering on the wrist.
Ergonomic Refinements
- Diameter: Reduced from 46 mm to 43.5 mm, with a lugless design that visually wears closer to a 38 mm watch—ideal for Asian wrists.
- Thickness: Slimmed from 12.7 mm to 11.9 mm for greater comfort.
- Strap: Tapered from 25 mm to 23 mm at the lugs and 18 mm at the buckle, creating a natural curve that hugs the wrist.
- Details: Square perforated strap with beveled edges for easier wearing, and a newly designed horseshoe buckle for elegance and convenience.
Minimalist Time Reading Aesthetics
Guided by the philosophy of “simplicity in time,” the new dial emphasizes clarity and readability.
- Streamlined dial decorations and adjusted Arabic numerals enhance legibility.
- Luminous Arabic numerals contrast against the blue-violet burnt titanium inner ring, highlighting the core time display.
